Chicago Marathon 2014

Now, the countdown really begins… Today I leave for Windy City to run my second marathon ever with 15 of my running friends from Nbro-Running. This wasn’t exactly planed, but 4 weeks ago I got a bip number offered to the 37th Bank of America Chicago Marathon from Nike/Nbro-running. I’m so excited and scared to death at the same time. It’s only 3 months ago since I ran my first marathon, and after I finished I promised myself I would never do it again because of the pain! But my amazing friends from Nbro-running inspire me so much that I’m ready for another one. As our dear Nike people tell us all the time: Just Do It!
So what is my goal time with this marathon? People often ask me that question! As I just told you, I’m a rookie marathon runner and did my first half marathon only a year ago. For me, running is not about racing against other people, or making PB’s (personal best) all the time. Running for me is finishing with a smile and feeling the joy and happiness running gives my body while being active. Of course I’d like to get even quicker, but I’m happy every time I finish a race without too much struggle. I’m the kind of person who’s not scared of failing and I love new challenges in my life. I only race against myself! But I would be really happy and proud of myself if I finish in 4 hours and 30 min. It’s 10 min. better than the first time.
I’m turning 25 on October 11th and I decided to celebrate my Birthday by running a marathon. And yes you probably think I’m crazy… But for me this is a great way to be reminded about something big I did for myself. I could have hosted a big party on a fancy club with a lot of friends, but I’d rather do something active that I can keep as a great memory forever and be proud of. And i’m sure all my lovely running friends from around the world will help me with celebrating my Birthday after the race!
