GOODY GOOD STUFF

Two weeks ago I went to a really interesting presentation of Goody Good Stuff! Goody Good Stuff is an all-new natural gummy candy range that is made with a plant derived bio-gum technology, which eliminates the need for animal-based gelatine, which is in used in most traditional gummy sweets. Normally i’m not a big fan of real sugar and candy! But I can’t say I don’t enjoy some candy once in a while! Therefore Goody Good Stuff caught my attention and the taste is absolutely amazing! I think this is a great alternative to the regular candy which has lots of unhealthy ingredients.
Q & A: Melissa Burton, Founder of Goody Good Stuff
What motivated you to start Goody Good Stuff? I’m a vegetarian, so initially I wanted to create a great tasting vegetarian sweet. As the idea developed, and we started experimenting with ingredients, I quickly realised that my motivation was in fact to create sweets that are safe for everyone to eat – no matter if you’re vegetarian, vegan or have a complete other dietary requirement. I want to make sweets that are inclusive, that can be eaten by everyone. Did you have any experience with entrepreneurship, before you started Goody Good Stuff? Yes, before Goody Good Stuff I started a successful financial business and a beauty salon. What tips do you have for someone considering starting a business? 1. Find something that you love. If you don’t love it, you will find the commitment too much to bear. 2. Think feasibility! Ask yourself, is your passion answering a question that people are asking? 3. Surround yourself with great people, support them and they will support you in return. What do consider to be the advantages and disadvantages of running your own business? Advantages – Pride in creating jobs and products that make a positive difference in the world. Disadvantages – Not being able to switch off! How do you manage to maintain a work/life balance? I have given everything I am to Goody Good Stuff and feel truly blessed as I love it. A typical day for me starts at 4am and ends at 9pm. We’re in markets all over the world, so I have to accommodate that. That said, one of my goals for 2015 is to ensure I take more time out for friends, family and fun. Q: Why is Denmark an interesting market for Goody Good Stuff? When we entered into our partnership with Cloetta we spotted several aspects that made Denmark exciting. Most importantly, you guys love candy! But what’s more, you’re very aware of what you consume. You take an active interest in what ingredients the products you eat contain, how they’re are sourced, and what the story is behind the company who produces them. I take great pride in our conscious approach to product development – and I hope that will resonate very well in Denmark. For example, instead of using traditional sweet ingredients, we source ours from lilypads and seaweed!
