How did you get started with running?
My friend, who was also my trainer, told me that I needed to add running to my workouts. He found a running club near me, so I had no choice but to join. I made a lot of new friends so it quickly became a part of my everyday routine. If I hadn’t had my first run back then, I wouldn’t have my blog!
What kind of different training do you do?
I take boxing classes a few times a week and I have one-on-one sessions with a great trainer. She specializes in circuit classes and strength training which is also an important base if you want to run fast and long distances.
What does a typical day look like for you?
As a freelancer, I start with cozy mornings at home with a homemade, healthy breakfast (like the recipe below). Other than that, my schedule changes day by day. I often have a lot of work to do, but even if my calendar isn’t jammed with appointments, I’m constantly thinking of new ideas. I have at least 3 to 5 meetings a day with brand ambassadors, bloggers, models, friends and other creative people like myself. My job is to bring them together.
Outside of my meetings, I have daily workouts and spend a lot of time on social media or blogging. I usually have dinner with clients or friends. My life and work are so intertwined and I’m grateful that I get to do what I’m passionate about.
You have a running club — tell us about it?
I’m a member of a brand new club that originated in January of this year. It’s sponsored by Adidas and based in Copenhagen, which is my hometown. We are 15 young girls with similar goals. We just love to run and stay fit. At the moment we meet up once a week to train together. Thanks to Adidas’ support, we are already set to travel abroad to participate in several events this year. Our first trip will take us to Stockholm, where we will take part in the release of the new Pure Boost X running shoes for women.
Do you have a recovery ritual?
After long runs, I prepare a bucket of ice water for my legs. I let my feet rest in it for 15-20 minutes. It’s important for the swollen muscles to recuperate this way. Learning from past injuries, I know, listening to my body is very important. I always allow myself 1 or 2 days off, so I can properly heal.
I make sure to take three M3 and O3 before my bedtime. On days of long runs, I double up. After marathons, I don’t dare to run for one or two weeks. I take time to reset.
What’s one weakness you’re currently working on?
I am working on my core strength. Aerobic activity is only a portion of what will get you to the finish line.
What is your diet like?
I do not follow a specific diet. I just use my common sense when it comes to food. My friends and I know it is very important to consume the right nutrients and to eat whole foods. It’s just naturally part of our lifestyle. Since I do a lot of high performance activities, I know I need to make sure my body gets enough vitamins and minerals.
You travel a lot — do you have any favorite destination?
Yes travel become a big part of my life! I have two favorite places to go. New York City is my all time favorite city to go. My sister lives there and I hope to live there one day as well. The energy and vibe is so intense in the big city. I’m always super inspired to work and achieve my goals even more when I come home from a trip!
Also, Jamaica play a big role in my life, my grandma lives there and I try to go 2-3 times a year to visit her. The island has the most amazing nature and special people! You have to see it yourself.
What’s your favorite treat meal?
I’m crazy about raw cake. I love to make it myself, and I think its important to treat yourself every once in awhile. I’m not one of those people who does major treat days. I believe the body will stay healthy and strong if you constantly give it the right amount of fuel. Eating a massive cheat meal doesn’t do anything good. I’d rather do smaller healthy treats once or twice a week.
What’s your favorite thing to do outside of working out?
I love to cook and I love to invite my family and friends for dinner! I’m not a really fancy person, I enjoy staying home and resting if I’m not working. I love to make pancakes in the morning, no matter how busy my day is.
