STOCKHOLM FASHION WEEK 2015

Monday and Tuesday, I have taken part in Stockholm Fashion Week. I got invited by the Swedish brand Whyred to cover their fashion show and take backstage pictures together with my good friend and fellow blogger Funda Christophersen.

WHYRED is all about contrasts, where the expected meets the unexpected in a nonchalant elegance. Contrasts where black meets white. Where stiff meets soft. Where leather meets nylon. Whyred has its roots in art and music, and those are important elements of the brand. Ongoing cooperations with different art forms maintains and strengthens this heritage.

Whyred has as ambition to attract people of all ages who share an interest in art, music and tailoring. Even though my own style is sporty and fresh, I still love Whyred’s simple and high quality clothes. My outfit for the show was a long black cotton coat, white silk shirt, black chinos and a leather bag.

H&M Design Award:

The H&M Design Award is now in its fourth year, founded to support and celebrate fashion at the earliest stages. The award rewards current graduates as they begin their careers, and provide inspiration for young, aspiring fashion designers. The winner is selected from 37 of the best design schools from across the world.

This year winner was Ximon Lee, a graduate of Parsons in New York, who captivated the international jury with his innovative collection and strong feeling for fabric. Ximon used layers of organic and synthetic textures, including materials such as plastic and cardboard to create exaggerated forms which sit away from the body.

Altewaisamoe X Adidas

Founded in 2009, ALTEWAISAOME is a fashion brand that offers an eclectic mix of Scandinavian simplicity and international high fashion. Behind the brand are the two Swedish born designers, Natalia Altewai and Randa Saome. Before starting AltewaiSaome, the founders spent several years studying and working for different fashion houses in Italy. At their show, they also launched their new collaboration with the sports brand Adidas! Together, they created the Swedish football jersey for the women’s football World Cup to take place in Canada this year.
