WHY I HAVE A COACH

About 8 months ago, I started working with a coach, because I wanted to get inspiration and motivation to optimise my training. Working with a coach has made a huge difference to me, and helped me keep on point and focused on my training, especially at times when it was difficult to do so.

Every Monday, my coach and I make a plan for my training that week. This means that I know exactly what I will be training each day and I can relax knowing, that if I stick to our plan, I will be able to elevate my performance and get ready for London Marathon 2016. Running a marathon is hardcore and even though I’m not aiming to get a time like a professional marathon runner, it’s still important to constantly improve and prepare both mentally and physically. Having someone to talk to about my training, goals and crazy ideas makes it possible for me to push myself and get closer to my goal of running the marathon in 3 hours and 55 minutes.

No one can keep focused 365 days a year and therefore I can only recommend getting a coach, or just a running partner that you can talk to about your training. A coach can help push you beyond what you thought was possible. If you want that incredible feeling of success, when you just performed a 100 times better on the tracks than you ever did before, then you need a coach to be there, push you, yell at you and take you across the line.

My coach helps me keep my head in the game, especially when the marathon is less than 2 months away. Later today we will do a training on the track and I’m sure he will kick my ass, but it’s all worth it in the end!
